A placeholder is fake content such as an image or text. Placeholders are often used during the development stages of a website when the final content is either not available or has not been developed yet.
A placeholder for images can be as simple as a single color image or perhaps a collection of unrelated photos.
Text placeholders are often filled with a type of text called “lorem ipsum”. Lorem ipsum refers to fake latin style language. It does not have any particular meaning.
